ACoH ever believe that Advocacy consists of organized efforts, highlighting critical issues that have been ignored or submerged. The Project target group is abused children and children affected by abuse from the rural and urban areas`ofMumias sub-County.
Project description
Project is guided by the united nation convention on the rights of the child, African charter for the rights and welfare of children and the children Act 2001 Kenya. This is a project that promotes the protection of the child rights to the fullest. It facilitates the promotion of social cultural behaviors and practices that upholds child rights through advocacy. The project targets the family members who are assisted to promote protection and care for children/youths against any form of abuse. It aims to develop an interaction and understanding with Street Children, orphans and vulnerable children. The field worker is expected to develop trust and build rapport before a discussion and invitation to the children to attend the ACoHrehabilitation Centre. Furthermore, the project works with other agencies, the private sector and communities (pro-bono lawyers) to enhance the promotion of child rights.

Activities/what we do

  • Identification of child abuse cases done staff and community Childs rights Actors.
  • Community Awareness and Education on child rights and responsibility conducted by staff, also given is community training and talks.
  • Rescue; (remove from immediate harmful environment to temporary shelter) case of extreme abuse.
  • Cases of child abuse and neglect are investigated and an intervention recommended by staff.
  • Care and case management plan is developed for each child.
  • Publication; radio Program, calendar, posters and stickers to pass information on child rights and responsibilities to the community.
  • Networking and collaboration: cuts across in all the projects with likeminded organization and relevant government department, probono lawyers, the police, hospitals, referrals, children a legal bazaar and the courts.
